Mrazek is the superior goalie and soon he's gonna have to get paid (so he's got that going for him). But with Dallas and a handful of other teams moving to more of a 1 2 punch goalie tandem, there may be a shift in the new normal.

One injury (like Florida) and you're in a real bad way. The 1A 1B offers a lot more safety and security.
I'm not saying I love it. Just saying that it might start to be the trend in the NHL soon. We will know more when we see how teams like Dallas/STL deal with the tandem in the playoffs. Then team brass can analyze the success of that model.

Imo, if you ran 1A 1B in the season and it was formidable, you should run 1A 1B in the playoffs. If it ain't broke don't fix it right

For sure. The only problem I have with our 1A 1B is that Jimmy just can't seem to keep his head in the game for a full 60. He just lets in the worst timed weak goals, it seems.

But for now, the Wings are in okay shape I suppose. Need to start winning in bunches to pass Montreal before Price comes back.

Time of the month? Or do you just not like to read more than one line? I followed it up by saying they are only 4 pts in the playoff spots because of how tight the league is.

For what its worth if we win our game at hand they will be 5th in the league passing Chicago and the Rangers.

They arent having an amazing season but they are probably slightly out performing what they should be doing.

Cheer up a little bit, none of us play for the teams.

Agreed.

I think the most frustrating thing about the Howard situation is how dumb some of the fans on the facebook page are lol. It hurts my head just reading some of the people defending him. You get comments like "Howard faces more shots every game", "the team supports Mrazek more", "The D let harder shots through on Howard".

Mrazek averages 29.15 SA/G to Howards 28.25.... He has a superior save percentage, a better points/game (In terms of "winning" points, not scoring points) and makes far fewer mistakes at important stages of the game. I don't know what more the D can do for Howard. That third goal was perfect man-on-man coverage, no screen at all, right in the middle of the slot, and he gets beat short side at hip level. Just can't happen.

It is just far too frustrating to watch the same thing happen every single game with him. He always lets in a weak goal either after the team has made a comeback and has some momentum, or right when the team takes the lead. He is a living, breathing motivation deflator.

Mrazek is young, talented, the better goalie... and if we want him to stick around long term and sign a nice contract we need to stop making him feel like a 50% backup.

It should be 55-60 games per season for Mrazek, 25 ish for Howard.

100% agree.

Howard is not a bad goalie. But God damn it always seems like he gives up goals at the worst timing possible. When you need that 1 big save, Howard doesn't deliver. He has no clutch at all whatsoever.

I agree with the 2 goalies can definetly be an advantage and viable. But I really don't think Howard is the goalie to do it. Doesn't seem the strongest mentally and he just can't take the added pressure and competition
