Schroeder isn't an NHL regular at this point with questionable ability to remain in the big leagues, no reason to give him 2.

I think we need a rover on defense that can really skate and jump up into the play regularly with real offensive instincts and skill. Ehrhoff kind of played that role when he was here and he was arguably our best D-man over those 2 years.

We have a solid D on paper but IMO we're missing that essential element. Having 4-5 of the same type of D-man is kind of redundant... we need a better mix.
