I have fiber, which was amazing, but I think they’re throttling me to hell right now, so that sucks

Moved into new house last year, lucky being in a rare Calgary area with fiber, it was great. Now it sucks, within the last month or two. I do torrent, VPN, but I think they’ve burned me. Been meaning to call and see what’s going on, maybe today. I don’t have proof of anything, but the internet went from fantastic to worse than average, so..

run a speed test?google ookla speed test thats usually what i use
also if you dont have fiber lines you can still get fiber but its only like 100-10 tops fiber lines give you even up and down and a lot more speed capability
around here some of my friends dont have the lines ran but they ran them down my street like 5 years ago

if you moved and lost speed you probably moved from a region with actual fiber cables to a non fiber cable area but still get offered the 100-10 or whatever
id def check that becasue if you are paying for like 500-500 and dont have actual fiber cables ran through the area you wont get that speed

Definitely worth calling about. Is this with Telus? Do you have Optik TV aswell? I'm 99% sure that Telus' TV runs off of the bandwidth that you pay for, so it vastly decreases internet performance if you have the TV box on.

Also, just cuz fuck Telus, we had Fibre Optic Internet 150 in the house I just moved out of. We got typically 40-80 Mbps download, which is absolutely brutal for "fibre optic". Right now on Shaw I'm getting 80 Mbps consistently and this isnt even their top internet package. Dont notice any big slow downs with multiple people using the internet either like I did with Telus.

Ya Telus, and I’m sure that’s the tv deal.

I’ll check the speed test, not home atm, but off the top of my head, I think it’s gone from 300 to 70ish lately.

seriously? thats rough LOL my installer guy said bell adds a "hidden" 5mb to your bandwith per box you have so it doesnt take away from your speed
and when i run speed test i usually have an extra 10 mb on my speeds even when watching tv

it could also be windows 10 shit ass drivers windows would update and overwrite my WiFi driver and give me shit ass speeds like 6mbps download
which im reminding you as i reinstall my driver again and turn off windows driver shit as i just did a fresh install of windows a week ago :wallbash:
PING ms
4
DOWNLOAD Mbps
6.82
UPLOAD Mbps
57.62
f yeah windows!
