I’m currently in the same position in my union.
basically i got called to work at an outpost, which means it's not my usual workplace and they gotta provide me taxi there.
So i get paid for taxi there, then work, then taxi back on pay. So im entitled to 24hour max rest after my trip, however the dumbshit said im only allowed 14hrs max out of no where.
i chuckled cuz it was the most retarded thing ive heard (they were desperate for ppl being available for work, so they tried to scam me to make me available)
i said i never had this issue before, and ur lying that i can only take 14hr, as all my years there's always me taking 24hr after taxi rides and now ur saying im only allowed 14hrs?
she says her supervisor told her that im on the spareboard, so im only allowed 14hrs. I said u and ur supervisor should go over our contract then, because spareboard is allowed 24hr max, 14hr is for assigned yard employees. Either way im tired, so ill let u know that i wont be taking any calls from 24hrs from now. She tried threatening me saying u will have a missed call record and i may be called in for a statement. So i said ya, sounds good by me cuz this is all recorded and all the evidence is against you at this point.
sure enough, they actually call me in for statement lmao the manager & the chick on voicecall got absolutely destroyed by me and union rep, had 0 answers again, showed him the article # of our rest after taxi on our contract, i said why are we even here if u guys cant answer anything and make a fool out of urself? manager flat out agreed with us even, he's just like yeah... man im just doing what im told by the company, i know this is bullcrap. the chick on the voicecall was just speechless the entire time cuz she had nothing to use against me lol other than not picking up my call intentionally when im entitled to my rest. I even said if u really wanna get technical, i shoulda got 48 hours off, cuz u messed up on my first taxi call so it didnt register my miles, but im even letting that slip. so all im getting from this statement is that the caller isnt doing her job properly, and that it's affecting all of us and the comapny wasted time and money. Unless u can prove me otherwise, and she couldnt say anything relevant and just hung up embarassed, and the manager's just like yep im just gonna throw this statement out. End of the day, we all had to book off work, i get my day work of pay i missed, grievance pay, and my 24hr rest after the meeting lol.
