go japanese, cheaper, easier to maintain, and reliable than euro/usa cars.
allso, dont go to used dealership, go buy from private seller is usually cheaper and u get better feel of the car by talking to owner. go honda civic.

Can't go wrong with a Civic or an Accord.
For that price range, that would probably be your best option imo.

Depends where you live though. Looks like southern Canada so you'd probably be dealing with mediocre winters.

Could find a nice WRX used ~05-06 for 5k.

i9n the 3-5k range, dont bother with a used car place. youll get more value private party.

the used car places are mostly a money trap to get people to finance at high interest rates.

i once tryed to buy a truck in cash from one of the places but they wouldnt sell it to me because they wouldnt get ther interest $

most of the newere econoboxes are fine, toyota, mazda, honda, nissan. probably the tops imo. then probably stuff like hyundai, kia (tho they got pretty good in the mid 2010's+) chevy does have the cruz also which is about the only good econo
