This morning, about 9am, there was another school shooting at a middle school...25 miles from my house.

:(

My wife is a teacher at one of the largest schools in the country. I fear nothing will happen as long as our decision makers make decisions based on money and not morality.

this is gettng sad
i live in a small city and went to a small highschool maybe 500-750 kids they had a drug bust and for rest of the scool year the cops literally had a 'station" in the school and patrolled the hallways and shit

now what is interesting about this is we no longer have police in my city they come from out of town now yet they could afford to have cops patrol a school after a drug bust being mostly marijuana

why the fuck cant the US do this shit? i mean bigger schools with shootings and shit like come on dudes whip up a drug bust and get some cops patrolling or something if there is a shooting at least u got people who can stop it
like make people feel safe to go to school have a show of force maybe there wont be as many shootings who knows because they wont try it instead they are like "lets give teachers guns!"

It's gotten to the point where I dont want to travel to big events in the US because of fear of a shooting. Every week there's a new mass shooting in a school, or somewhere and every time they change absolutely nothing so it's bound to continue. This is why law makers need to make tough decisions sometimes that arent popular with the public. However, the politicians in the US would rather let the NRA line their pockets with cash and turn a blind eye.

This talking point about nra and politicians get money and don’t change laws is tiring. Want to know what kills more people in the USA per year?

33000 American civilians died from gun violence in 2017. This sounds like a lot but it really isn’t. 2/3 of those people were committing suicide and they would have even without guns. Guns are just quicker and easier. A couple hundred of the gun deaths were hunting accidents or misfires in general and only 500 was from the mass shootings everyone is so scared of. Car crashed killed 40000 in 2016 and millions more are injured. 64000 people died from substance abuse, 480,000 die from smoking every year and 699,202 people are killed before they are even born. Nearly 600000 people die from being obese.

So this is why politicians get to decide the laws and they don’t push any through based solely off emotions. The 2A is more important than the 500 or so that die from these shootings. You want to make change? Secure our schools. No one would get inside without going through a metal detector.

Hell, at the cnn town meeting just last week iirc Pelosi was being questioned by a Santa Fe student on why they can’t secure a school like they do court offices where no shooting has occurred. Even the mediator grilled Pelosi and she had no answer.

the nra isnt exactly the issue here, but they arnt helping also.

there is obviously a problem, what do you do to fix it? you arnt taking away all guns, that is just a fact, it wont happen, people wont let it. background checks, great awesome. ive been through plenty of them. but unless there is a history of an issue, nothing is going to come up, so thats not exactly effective. gun owners need to start being more responsible, my shit is locked up, and unless you have a cutting torch and a lot of time, youre not getting them.

i think prevention at school is much easier at a school than in the general public for sure.

this is a people issue, and their tool of choice is a gun, its easy and effective.

Fun fact.

Not many years ago the TDSB (Toronto district school board) starting putting 1-2 police officers in each of the troubling high schools and the crime and violence took a noticeable drop.

Last year, after an unbearable amount of police hate through news/ social media, the citizens of our multicultural/ inclusive city demanded the exclusion of the police from schools and won.

its only a matter of time until something happened once again, but I did support having them placed where needed and believe it's safer.
:(
