It's gotten to the point where I dont want to travel to big events in the US because of fear of a shooting. Every week there's a new mass shooting in a school, or somewhere and every time they change absolutely nothing so it's bound to continue. This is why law makers need to make tough decisions sometimes that arent popular with the public. However, the politicians in the US would rather let the NRA line their pockets with cash and turn a blind eye.
This talking point about nra and politicians get money and don’t change laws is tiring. Want to know what kills more people in the USA per year?
33000 American civilians died from gun violence in 2017. This sounds like a lot but it really isn’t. 2/3 of those people were committing suicide and they would have even without guns. Guns are just quicker and easier. A couple hundred of the gun deaths were hunting accidents or misfires in general and only 500 was from the mass shootings everyone is so scared of. Car crashed killed 40000 in 2016 and millions more are injured. 64000 people died from substance abuse, 480,000 die from smoking every year and 699,202 people are killed before they are even born. Nearly 600000 people die from being obese.
So this is why politicians get to decide the laws and they don’t push any through based solely off emotions. The 2A is more important than the 500 or so that die from these shootings. You want to make change? Secure our schools. No one would get inside without going through a metal detector.
Hell, at the cnn town meeting just last week iirc Pelosi was being questioned by a Santa Fe student on why they can’t secure a school like they do court offices where no shooting has occurred. Even the mediator grilled Pelosi and she had no answer.
