seriously think my metabolism is a little fucked from cutting for so long. lets see where im at in 6 months. going to start increasing calories 100 a week .

This is about the same time of year I started my last bulk , a bit earlier. last time i went from 166-195 from august - september (big mistake)

Going to try for 161 to 175-180 (around there) in a YEAR this time.

Your throat or whatever isn't producing as much anymore to help your metabolism

Might need to look into supplements

yeah, the compound exercises are the best, but you can emulate them in machines even if its inferior

remember that you already got someone at, lets say, 350 pounds. you're going to add another 100-150 pounds to that? welcome to knee blow out city

fat people might as well don't lift then. that makes no sense at all

if youre 350 pounds, walking alone will make you lose weight.

you wont become 500 pounds

you need to remember that the knee joints are almost always blown out on overweight people, putting extra pressure on them won't help.

also, "fat" people have dignity and are usually strong enough to lift more than the average untrained man, and will have confidence issues lifting just the bar or low weights - just like fit people at my gym refuse to warm up with the bar and work their way up and instead benches/squats/etc without the full motion (touch chest/hit parallell)

overweight people need to work around their joints, swimming and machines that arent pressuring your knees (epileptic machine, etc). its the same thing - people tell overweight people to just go out and run, the knees cant take that. adding extra pressure to already overpressured knees won't help. there's machines that helps you build up needed back, chest, stomach and leg muscles to keep your body upright and be able to lift shit properly.

compound exercises are the very best exercises in the whole gym, absolutely, but they're not for everyone, especially not really overweight people that probably already have issues with their joints

you can build muscle through machines, even if you miss out on certain smaller muscle groups used for balance, starting easy with dumbells and machines is the right way to go if you're REALLY overweight. if you're just bit chubby compound exercises work.

sure, but we're talking about compound exercises here, you work out differently if you're overweight. thats what im trying to say, you don't go into the gym and think you can do the same thing as normal weight people do

if you're 350 and adds 150 from the bar, you put 500 on your knees

why is it so hard to drop your ego if you want to lift? and its not true for the vast majority of fat people i saw and certainly not for fit people, i see it all the time and i myself warm up with the empty bar and do 2 other sets of warm up with low weights

there are 700 pounds people who can walk a.k.a put 700 pounds of pressure on only one knee. squat requires 2 legs so a 350 pound guy would have no problem squatting. bones are not like muscles, they don't get stronger, they're just there handling your weight. of course i wouldn't recommend a 500 pound guy to lift but it's fairly managable for a 350 pound guy to do it.

anyway if you squat with a proper technique, you should not even worry about having an injury unless you don't do a deload week every 6-8 weeks

my friends friend went to the gym at 400 lbs and couldnt even bench the bar, he was laughed at by both his friends and the rest of the gym. and why its hard to drop your ego? the biggest reason overweight people don't lift is becuase they're afraid of making mistakes since fit people absolutely hate overweight people and make fun of them (look at this subforum, reddit, etc)

you can walk, but your knees don't extend to same way they do as when you squat, thats why you blow out knees squatting with the wrong technique. if you do it right, its no problem, but you might lack the overall muscle build around the knees to squat properly, which is why you have to hit parallel to avoid uneven muscle building around the knees

squatting is a natural movement but its not very natural and its hard to balance when your gut is so massive

and when you're 350-400-450-500 you still need to build core muscles, and yo ucan do that through machines just as easily in an early stage
