What’s so funny? You disagree? So talk to any server. Hell, servers in bars are making close to 50$ an hour guaranteed. Most of it tax free

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not talkin bout some humptys server or Denny server. Established resteraunts. I was at tony romas making 30+ an hour serving tables. And I was on the low spectrum compared to the women working there.


Do the math kid. I can turnover 3 tables per hour. And get 10-15$ tip from each. On top of my minimum wage.
There are 4-6 tables per server section. Sometimes score a big fish and get a big tip. Or a table of 8 has auto gratuity tacked on for a massive pay day.

Plus the industry scams to maximize $$$. Servers arnt hurtin by any means.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's an accurate appraisal of higher-end restaurants. I know people who never went to college and are basically career waiters, and they do better than a lot of people with degrees. At their age bracket anyhow, I'd imagine the wages stagnate hard after a certain point because if you aren't moving up in restaurant fanciness you have nowhere else to go.

10% and I don't want to but I'm pressured into it and don't feel they deserve it. I tip mom and pop shops who make it right in front of me more.

not true, you get paid the higher of the two, if you make under minimum with tips you can get paid the minimum labour law got em covered. Impossible to make less than minimum, and that real minimum not server minimum.

this is ontario though.


GF was making 20-25$ per hour at a dive bar. its a tough job, but not harder than manual labour or lumber yard shit or anything like that.

I don't believe in tips but i also am not cheap enough to fuck over servers

OK service -10%
good service - 15%
Great service 20%

what pisses me off is how when you pay card the auto tip functions are tipping on tax and often set at like 18%, 20% and 25%.

Depends what you order, you should tip on cocktails, but not bar rail or beer imo. what im going to give you a $1 for opening my 9$ beer?

unless it changed last couple years QC server minimum doesn't matter how much tip you make (because a lot is undeclared anyways) it would be less than the standard minimum so they do rely on tips

and was like 4$/hr less than reg minimum
