I was about to ask this same question. The last couple years he's frustrated the shit outta me, but after this last year, letting the players play and not over-selling the defensive mentality, I was glad to see him come back for another season.

We'll see how Yeo goes, but I think Hitch earned the right to retire here. Hopefully he gets himself a cup to go out with.

Numbers wise he's good, especially with reg season, but when it comes playoffs, i cant see the blues win a cup w/ him for some reason. 2x 1st round exits, this yr team did better but i think blues shouldve lost to the hawks if it wasnt for elliot playing out of his mind. Maybe its me being salty, but i think blues shouldve beaten the sharks and put up a better fight vs the pens than the sharks did. Who knows, blues are an excellent reg season team under hitch and thats all to it.

I'm not sure that he's as sound on the MUST MAKE saves as Elliott is.

Yeah he's a little more flashy and can make the crazy saves look way more crazy, but the standard shit still squeaks through far too often for me to trust him to win a Cup.

this offseason has been disappointing to say the least. on paper, we look like a much worse team today than we did a few months ago.


backes and brouwer gone to FA and elliot moved for very little.


now were relying heavily on a goalie who flashes top tier potential but cant seem to be consistent and/or stay on the ice and avoid injury.

we lose backes, the heart and backbone of our team, along with brouwer, whos a solid vet who can step up in the top 6, all to get back Perron?????


david perron, the guy we moved out of town because he didnt fit our system and isnt a 2 way player.


were no longer a big, scary team to play, which is fine if youre a fast team, but were not fast either.

our center depth is ugly. we have stastny whos a 1b/2a guy, lehtera whos a 3, sobotka whos a 3/4, and brodziak whos a 4C.

we still havent moved shattenkirk either. after such a promising postseason run, i fear our front office has really dropped the ball this season.


without another move or two in sight, i wonder if were even a playoff team next year.

i just watched the blues tribute video to david backes and it still doesnt seem real that hes no longer a blue.

i didnt think it would be this hard, but it almost made my eyes water. im gonna miss the big guy as much as anyone.


normally i root against boston, but itll be hard to do knowing that one of the most hard working, respectable, willful players ive been able to witness will be wearing that bruin uniform. no one in this league can claim to play with more heart than him.

Ugh I'm not sure how I feel about the blues roster right now. Not happy that elliot was traded for such a low pick imo. Traded away our captain. Ugh Cmon blues don't let Hitch go out on a low note.
