McCollum has been good in the playoffs so far, hasn't he? Could see them letting him run with it instead of sending Mrazek down. Try to salvage him after he's been so mediocre.

Oh I'm sure he'd be amazing. It comes down to a greater good thing though, if sticking with McCollum helps him find his game well enough to be Mrazek's backup on the wings, that saves scouting effort plus for his first few years I bet he'd be willing to take a 3-year at like $700k. Calculated risk for the franchise.

I generally dont pay any mind to silly little he said she said stories like this but- since its relevant:

Someone I know is doing the interior designing for Howard's house or something like that.
She said she overheard him saying to his girl that if the wings think hes gonna back anyone up they are crazy and he will be gone in a year tops.

Grain of salt. Either way, its not like theyd keep both long term anyways. So news of a Howard departure wouldnt be a big deal having heard my little story or not lol

Howard will be gone, Babs will be gone, Franzen will never come back.

Should run Mrazek #1, if the Monster is healthy (and that's a big if), sign him as the backup for 20-25 games next season.

I could see Howard going to Edmonton for something halfway decent. If they hold him for next season and run him as a #2 (or worse, try to do the 41/41 bullshit the Leafs pulled with Bernier and Reimer) he will end up being worthless by next offseason.

I want a different backup. Let monster walk. He's a decent goalie, but he is glass. You can rely on him to get injured. If we get rid of Howard, we can't afford to bank on Monster being full time backup. He has problems every year.

If you do let Howard go I wonder if the leafs did move bernier they'd take Howard on as a part of a phaneuf trade to detroit

Also for a backup you'd probably want a vet who could step in if mrazek falters
