I don’t give a shit, and neither do most Canadians, but if the government wants to ditch an antiquated system that identifies single females for no discernable purpose other that tradition, then go nuts. And if every government form says mother and father, then might as well make it more inclusive, because it’s conpletely harmless, except for all the damage it’s doing to your feelings.

I believe there are only two genders. I'm curious were they automatically assuming parents were different genders? As in when mailing gay parents stil saying Mr and Mrs? If that was the case the change makes sense. Otherwise it's an unessessary change.
