As a guy with zero emotional attachment to the canucksIn my opinion what would be best moving forward is to:

Talk with the Sedins and see if they would be willing to accept a trade to a contender and instantly become their second line. Receiving a bucket of assets in return.

Trade one of the two starting goalies you guys have,

If you trade Lu you get rid of his TERRIBLE contract and have a starter who has a lot of time to grow
If you trade Ginger god then you still have lu, who frankly has looked like the better starter and will still perform for years to come. and you would probably get more assets for Ginger God since his contract Isn't a horrid monster.

Dump as many underperforomers as possible for mid round picks (Higgins Raymond ect)

Keep Keep Kesler/Hamhues and burrows to build around

you need to keep players that mean a lot to the franchise so the new players can grow into it

keeping the sedins is a good thing to do, they're still young and will keep the fans around

however, they need to pull off a firesale and get rid of a lot of bad stuff, get a lot of picks and then sign UFA:s to fill the void while the prospects slowly grow into the NHL, sadly, there's not enough prospects to do it since their drafting sucks the big N D

Then thats a partial rebuild, I think the Canucks need something more substantial.

They need to get rid of one of their fucking goalies though.

oh and fire AV, I bet Trotz could have done so much more with this team. (Especially vs big physical teams like the bruins/sharks)

florida rebuilt their whole franchise by having a new GM join the team, asking every player "do you wanna play through a rebuild?" and a lot of ppl said "no, trade me" and he did. the ones who wanted to stay, was allowed to stay

the fact is that you can't get rid of everything and just epxect young players to do shit. you need veterans and having a few veterans on contracts that'll expire when your young kids are ready is gold

Sedins would be perfect for that. They don't wanna leave so might as well use them as "mentors".

I don't know how many teams who are ready or close to winning can afford 12M in cap + the assets it would take to acquire them, anyway.

Good point.

But for real, your goalie situation is driving me bat shit. Trade one or you waste the potential of both.

the team loses all credability for free agents if they trade schneider

he was signed to be the starter but luongo stole it from him by being better

they MUST trade luongo or keep both, sadly

Has there been a bigger storyline all year, not just in Vancouver, but league-wide? Can't think of any other, really.

Driving everyone bat-shit lol, Gillis handled it horribly, but we don't know how many trades Luongo denied, either.

Can't see Luongo staying just 'cause Schneider's contract is easier to move and we'll get a better return. Luongo will still want out 'cause of the rebuild and Schneider is young enough to play through it.

Knowing MG he'll use the reffing as an excuse to not make changes.

Obviously reffing fucked us but we weren't gonna go deep anyway.
