The United States is third in murders across the world.

If you remove:

1) Chicago
2) Detroit
3) Washington DC
4) New Orleans
5) St. Louis

Then the United States is 189th out of 193 countries in the entire world.
These 5 cities have STRICT gun control laws

Municipal gun laws are practically irrelevant in a country that has a gun culture and low gun restrictions in neighboring municipalities.

but i was mostly saying it for the lulz.

curious where you got those numbers i wiki had US at 94/219 without removing any cities, (for murder rates, didnt look at by firearm or firearm related death.) this is actually better for your argument

That being said those lists are kind of irrelevant, america can be top 100 and still not good enough, good for them if they beat El salvador and 99 other third worlds, the question is by comparison to developed countries like UK, France, canada etc etc

So in fact, you are right Nearin

So take out 5 of their biggest cities and you can cheat the stats. Same way Oilers are the best team in Alberta if you take out the Flames.

Whatever you copied that from is trying to say that gun control is causing gun deaths, which is beyond retarded. Again, tell me where you copied that from. We both know you're a cult follower of some kind of reddit/r/thedonald page, and I wanna know which one because its hilarious.

I’ve never been on reddit. To be honest no idea how to use it and not interested. I am however, on a few political forums.
If you want to talk about Stanley cups (5 vs 1) conference championship (7 vs 3) president trophies (2 vs 2) division champions (9 vs 6) then yea, oilers are forever better than the flames, and you’re just going to have to get used to that.

What I’m saying in what I posted is that gun control affects law abiding citizens and has very little to do with criminals who like nearin points out, will get guns from somewhere else.

I bet you are behind Trudeau and his new gun control he wants to bring in and how it’s just pandering to the masses due to the current state of the states

e/ countries that are still lower murder rate than the us include developed world flagships like : rwanda, niger, north korea, iran, , cuba, turkey, thailand, egypt, syria, sri lanka, myanmar, jordan etc etc.

Now these stats are from mixed dates, and some of this countries probably have reporting problems but you get the point. 94/219 is no place for a developed nation that trumpts its self as the greatest country in the world.

TBH im dispappointed even in canadas score at 158 still 1.68/100,000 are murdered each year, uk is under 1.

Those guns are still in the country because there is a strong gun industry, if there were less demand for legal guns domestically it would reduce both legal and illegal guns in circulation. besides most of the school shooting events have been with legally owned weapons that were stolen from parents.

When i call for gun control im not saying no guns anywhere ever. i'm saying there is no reason for certain types of guns, and we need stricter saftey laws, Like hacing to have your gun in a locked cabinet with ammo and gun seperate. certain weapon types needing to be stored in a cage at a range and not allowed off range. etc shit like that.

Im not going after Koj's right to go hunt a buck with a regular ol bolt action hunting rifle that he locks away and takes out 4 times a year to go hunting in bush with proper permits. (i dont even know that koj hunts but i figured probably) i'm talking about automatic (or modded to near automatic) assault rifles and handguns sitting loaded in desk drawers.

there are common sense things that can be done to improve gun laws in the states. that would not be overly invasive to most gun owners

these cities combine for about 1,500 murders, or 10% of the US's ~15,000 yearly murders. this would drop the US murder rate from 4.88 to about 4.5 per 100,000, which is more than twice the murder rate of the next developed country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate (sourced from 2015 UN stats)

Have we tried giving a gun to every citizen? Then we dont need the police at all, and any school shooter will be met by an armed militia.
