I'd take Eichel anyday lol. Buffalo doesn't wanna lose him for subpar return is all. His neck injury isn't that bad, considering he's on the ice practicing and training. Also medical experts say it should heal and not bother him with the surgery. Buffalo doesn't want him to do the surgery cuz they're a joke franchise, and prefer the passive method even if it will bother Eichel for rest of his career. Rather take chances on someone young and gfg like Eichel than Tarasenko that injured his shoulder 3 times and is finally getting the correct surgery to fix the issue.
Eichel is obviously the better player but that contract and his attitude scare me. Even before the surgery became a point of contention he was angling, and succeeded in getting rid of coaches and management.
Maybe I am wrong but he seems to be the kind of guy that is so inwardly focused he can't see the bigger picture of what it takes to win.
Tarasenko proved that he could take on different roles and play an adaptive style when the Blues won a cup. I can appreciate that.
I think Tarasenko would be easier for a team to work with. Eichel just seems to be the kind of guy that is always going to have the "it's my way or the highway" attitude.
Five years with that attitude @ 10 million a season is terrifying. A team will gamble and take that risk though. The talent is too good to pass up on.
With both players the problem is the same. They are at their lowest value and have demanded a trade. Somehow both teams are going to have to get a good return when they have no leverage, so it is going be extremely difficult to move them.
