Apparently you can't offer NTC's in offer sheets. Interesting

ESPN just posted this in one of their articles:

Under terms of the CBA, the Predators cannot trade Weber for a calendar year after matching the offer sheet and a year from now when Weber would have become an unrestricted free agent, a no-move, no-trade clause kicks in.

There is no NTC's in the contract the Flyers offered, and there cannot be in any offer sheets. However if the Preds match, they cannot trade him for an entire calender year. So they will be on the hook for this and next years signing bonuses

Front end load the deal so Nashville may not be able to afford to match. I think they will work out a deal and he will be in philly. Philly needs to send some salary (of good player(s) ) and Nashville needs to good players now to replace him. I can see a deal being made such as..... Weber to Philly for a 1st 2nd + solid roster player + a couple B level prospects or something of that nature instead of just taking 4 first round picks. We know Philly will be competitive so by no means will these be top 10 picks. So the 4 first rounders is not as steep as it sounds. If the deal is as front ended as reported I really do not think Nashville has the funds to match this. Not to mention they took Weber to arbitration last season which often leaves players and or owners bitter towards each other. I think Weber's time has come and gone in Nashville, it appears there is atleast some bitterness between him and the organization. I can not blame Weber to accepting this offer sheet, Nashville had all season and nearly 3 weeks of post july 1st negotiating time and Weber and his agent probably simply grew impatient. You would think after losing Suter a long term signing of Weber would be announced. Nashville dropped the ball on this one, the guy has waited long enough and has not been treated great by the organization. Sorry to the Nashville fans who will probably lose the should be Norris trophy winner and another all star d-man in one month.

/e on a side not these long term deals are a cancer to the league.... I hope when the CBA is ratified these moronic long term deals that circumvent the salary cap and destabilize the league are eliminated.
