I really don't understand why male circumcision is so popular in North America... not like religion requires anyone except Jews to do it.

Because once upon a time it was a Judeo-Christian thing, and now people only do it to their kids because it was done to them, etc etc. Then claim some kinda pseudo-science to justify missing part of their dong.
