yeah all the bad deals you got rid of had 1 year left and you took on a 6 year that could be just as bad hopefully oel bounces back he used to be really good
if they did retain some that would be pretty good

The 9th was for Garland, essentially. He's the best player in this deal currently.

OEL was for free essentially due to his contract. The 2nd we gave up was for the retention.

I'm still not understanding this trade. OEL is a cap dump? Wtf lol... he's put up almost identical numbers every year of his career. He's never been the greatest defensively. You guys got a top 4dman and top9 forward for 3 cap dumped players that you've been trying to get rid of and a 1st?

Nevermind i see the extra picks added. That makes more sense now.

OEL has been on the decline for a few years now.

The Canucks are risking that it was only because of a stale and bad situation in Arizona and that he'll bounce back.

But he's also 30, so who knows if that decline was just natural with age and is just going to get worse.

He's not the Norris candidate type he was 3+ years ago.

6Y x 7.25M remaining for a 30 year-old declining D-man, there's no value there.

Keep in mind, multiple teams offered first round picks for Ristolainen. The Flyers offer was the best of the bunch. Is it too much? If all reports are accurate, then time will tell. But remember, Ristolainen will play a different role in Philly than he did in Buffalo.

Ristolainen said he thinks he will fit in quickly. In terms of re-signing, he said trade just happened and he hasn't had time to think long-term but if things go well, it's something he could see.
