I've said it before, officiating this year has been leaps and bounds worse than recent years.
And thats my point about basketball, its such soft rules that inflate the score dramatically.
Im not comparing the act of missing a call, im comparing how much effect the ref(s) have on the game,
The refs are involved in one way or another on the vast majority of plays in a basketball game, where as in hockey there are generally around 6 to 7 penalties called per game.
Yes, the refs can miss calls (obviously) and some times they lead to game changing results, but they generally do not. The footprint the refs have on an NBA game (enforcing its soft rules) is much greater than the NHL.

We could go on and on with the basketball argument but ultimately I BELIEVE that the better team wins 9 times out of 10 in PLAYOFF basketball regardless of officiating
