ive seen people talking teams might be willing to offer sheet makar so the avs could end up with a not so friendly contract for him

makar has to be willing to sign that offer sheet tho

offer sheets mean dick all if the guy dosent want to go to the team offering

That wouldn't be a Matthews contract then, which again is tough to do what dubas did lol. Just cuz teams are trying to avoid paying 4 1sts by offering him 10.2m x 7yrs, doesn't mean makar's camp would sign it. If they somehow did, avs would match that instantly and thank the team for the help. Makar's starting point is Chabots 8x8 contract, and he's tons better, so I can see him taking a slight discount from doughty/ek contract and maybe do something like 10x8. Sakic is a God tho, so maybe he will just do 6x6 hehe.

hes an rfa with 2 years under his belt yeah hes really good but hes not in a situation to be making more then 10m imo unless a team is trying to poach him
i feel like the avs will be coming in a like 8x9 range tops sakic isnt dubas and toronto isnt the same market as colorado and mathews is a forward im not sure why you are bringing that up what so ever

what do you expect the avs to do this off season? they have 25m capspace and have to sign
makar-9-11?
landeskog-6.5-7.5
saad-3
jost-2
grubaur/dubnyk? about 3-6m remaining for 2 goalies
i put my prices i think they will come in around as an estimate and its pretty tight and thats just to bring back he team they had and if you guys think makar is going to be getting 11m+ its even tighter
expansion draft might help with some cap relief people are expecting to see graves/nichuskin exposed and taken but thats like 2.5-3m if they let saad walk they got some space to work with but lose depth

of course but if the avs are coming in with like 8x8 8x9 team friendly rfa deal and a team offer sheets 10.2 makar might get $$ eyes and accept it but the avs would probably just match but makar might accept knowing that
but i guess if you guys tink the avs are going to be coming in at 11+ none of this matters cause 4 1sts is probably too much but idk the avs and covid flat cap ... i dont see them going near that unless they are forced too

Plz stop looking at capfriendly thinking they are up to date on everything. Avs have far less than 25mil in capspace.

Saad won't be back.

I'm bringing up Matthews cuz I was replying to Subban saying that avs can't be the leafs west without being dubas and signing their 4 core players for half the team cap.

As for makar making 10m+ is if another offersheets him, and ofc Sakic is gonna match any np. He's not gonna hesitate and think 4 1sts will be worth taking. He will probably try push hard for 8x8 like Chabot but anywhere close to 9 will be a win imo. Sakic will also probably have easier time convincing his players to take a bit of discount to stay competitive and win some cups.

Avs will most likely lose Graves to Seattle, which is another 3m cleared. Makar, Landy and grub will be around 20m for those 3? the rest will be depth pieces to fill out the roster

Seems as tho they haven't updated any LTIR or call ups for this season. So avs have 8Mil in LTIR to activate.

Landy will take a deal like RNH , 8 years with a lower AAV
Grubauer loves being in Colorado also. Reminds him of his homeland so I can see him taking a deal to stay with the team.
Makar is easily worth 8 x 10.5 but I'm hoping Sakic can get him under 10mil.

Alot rides on who Seattle takes. It'll likely be Graves, But if compher or donskoi get picked I can see Sakic trying to replace them in FA, seems as tho he's all about those team friendly deals. Maybe a Stastny reunion??

Will almost certainly be Graves.

Strong teams get hurt the most from the expansion draft. Losing a player of that caliber is a huge blow but Colorado is deep enough to still be a contender.

Mackinnon set the bar for taking team friendly deals and says he will do so again. I think all of the big names in Colorado are going to be signing for under market value.

A random team could offer sheet Makar but I don't think he would be interested in going to a basement team even if it is for a lot more money. Won't be a threat for Colorado imo.

Much bigger blow if they lose a forward vs Graves. Byram, Timmins and Johnson play full-time (baring injuries ofcourse.)

Toews Makar
Johnson Girard
Timmins Byram / Anyone who shines in camp

Entire 4th line this year will likely be all ELCs

Tarasenko requests a trade

Is he basically a cap liability with his injuries? Or does he look like he'll recover a bit now with his surgery?
