their GM is their backup goalie. that whole organization is / has been a mess for a long time. they got fleeced, and thinking vanek would want to stay on perennial loser was silly.

i remember at one piont it seemed like all he did was sign goalies




and they got that 1st for gaustad a few seasons back maybe even last season

buffalo has acquired a good amount of picks for the past few seasons there going to have a pro rebuild shit they got defense and forward prospects there already in better shape then the oilers

i personally would have never done it, and i have thought it was stupid all along, vanek didnt/isnt/hasnt put up anything that moulson couldnt have matched and it cost you...

the only way isles win this trade is if moulson has secret plans to walk and resign with the isles becasue him and tavares are good friends
and then the isles trade vanek for a decent return or resign him
possible... but idk haha but vanek did say if he was traded he would consider resigning with the isles but that might be him just trying to get traded
so technically the isles could super win this trade by resigning moulson as FA trading vanek for a rental then resigning him as a FA but thats so unlikely but so was vis and nabokov staying there

moulson will be an islander next season so it could've been worse.

even if they resign moulson they still paid a 1st and 2nd for 1 year of vanek if they cant keep him
like the isles arent exactly rebuild mode but that could be 2 prospects that in a few years are really helpin the team win
