It's obvious this mandate comes from the top, the referees aren't officiating this way on their own.

They try to "manage" games to keep them even, for the "parity" that the NHL so badly desires.

Peel will have to fall on the sword here and probably be taken care of under the table, he was close to retirement anyway.

The NHL will then try to sweep this under the rug and pretend like this never happened because it makes them look really bad, especially now that they're looking into getting into bed with sports gambling in the near future.

We already had proof that this stuff was going on when all those e-mails from top executives and media types were leaked... Colin Campbell complaining about how his son is being treated, him having a vendetta against Savard and Cooke not getting any punishment on his hit, etc.

It's not exactly pro wrestling but everyone knows it's not 100% clean either.

Thx Peel, you were one of our best refs to manage games over these years, i know you are 1 month away from retiring so we will just release a statement and make you the scapegoat. The fans will suck it up like action was done, it's a win-win!!!
