Its only a follow through if contact is made with the puck, it wasnt. And recklessly swinging your stick at a puck in mid air and then catching someones face shouldve been a penalty whether he made contact or not. The only person on the broadcast who thought it could go either way was milbury who is a massive bruins homer.

Im not sure if the follow through rule carries over to situations like that, it was more meant to protect players shooting or passing as that is a natural action to progress the game. Swinging at pucks in mid-air accomplishes nothing. But idk 100% maybe it wouldve been okay. Still though, shouldve been a penalty, instead it was a goal.

Damn if its legal to whack your stick like a maniac to reach the puck.midair and you.dont get penalised for hitting.the other guy in the face it would.be the dumbest shit in a long time.to happen in the nhl.rulebook
