Its hard to replace that kind of talent

Yeah and it's hard to replace Yzerman Shanahan federov hull etc. you don't replace it, you find different talent that you adapt strategy to accommodate. There is plenty of talent in the red wings organization, but no Datsyuk clone or zetterberg clone.

Eh.. I'm sure it's gonna have just as big of an impact as Liddy leaving (which was substantial pretty much all year).

I'm not too worried either though, it may be a big blow but detroit has been phenomenal at racking in great talent even with late draft picks this whole time. I've no doubt they will keep rolling new stars for quite some time.

their european drafting isn't as dominant as it once was

it's probably the best still, but they won't be able to pick up players like datsyuk that late again

were a lot of people whining to get this?

Rule 83.1 explains why the CHI goal by Bickell was not offside -- puck was propelled back into zone by DET's Franzen. http://ow.ly/i/2dtnT

I think they were, yeah. Though I believe most were more ticked off about the penalty shot call.

I'm obviously biased cus if it had been for detroit I'd have not complained at all so I'm mostly on the fence about it.

No one will be. It's a reality of the Information Age that there are very minute advantages for individual clubs in scouting. There will be more emphasis on training and coaching from here on out.rd

it's Red wings' Player development that gave them steals like Datsyuk

you wouldn't leave a player to the 4th+ round if you thought they'd be that good

They didn't know he'd be that good, but they knew he'd be good regardless if they picked him. Just thought the earlier picks were more pressing.

no, by the time there was barely anyone scouting europe

red wings was first with scouting europeans and had the connections set in the countries before everyone else

it doesn't matter

Players don't go 100+ if the scouts/team thought they'd turn out like Datysuk
