If Wheeler and Scheifele are allowed to dictate who plays where PLB will be stifled because he will never be able to challenge Scheifele for the #1 center position.


This is why I don't think this is true, at least not fully. A coach is not going to allow this to happen unless the players on the ice back up being 1st line players.

I think the biggest problem was Scheifele and Wheeler both shoot right and Wheeler plays right wing.

Connor plays LW and shoot left. He is a consistent 30 goal scorer.

Wheeler is obviously a better TWF than Laine and a superb playmaker to boot.


Based on that I don't think there was much room for Laine to be a 1st line winger.

More than anything else I think Laine got frustrated being a 2nd line winger when he knew he would be an uncontested 1st line winger on most teams.

[Colin Dunlap] I am told by multiple sources this morning Jim Rutherford was working on a Kris Letang trade to one of the teams he can be traded to. Ownership did not want him doing this. It forced an untenable situation. So here we are.
