Don’t dodge the question

You’re trying to troll. You posed no serious question. You are smarter than this. But yet resort to trying to troll. It’s pathetic. And asserts what I have said is correct and that you have nothing to refute it.

I just don’t get this logic? iirc you said you have your pal and are a gun owner. But you make ridiculous comments like this that make it sound as if you’ve never even held a firearm.
A good buddy of mine has 5 handguns. Completely legally owned. HERE IN CANADA. And most guns are semi auto. Lol.
Anyfirearm you can purchase in the states you can get in Canada. DO YOO REALIZE THIS?
You are worried about guns seeping into Canada? So you’re worried about the illegal gun running which would happen regardless what laws you put into place? How ridiculous.

Not most guns are semi auto, that's a ridiculous statement. You can get hand guns in Canada but compare the process in the States to what we have in Canada in-order to acquire them legally.... and if you don't believe gun running would decrease if USA was to get rid of their arsenal then there's a lack of common sense

You can get fucking semi-auto rifles at Walmart in USA for fuck sakes... and most illegal guns are stolen or acquired guns which were at one point obtained legally

There's zero reason for regular citizens to have access to firearms, yet they do. If you're going to use leisure activities as an argument to dispute rampant murders then you have a problem. The negative side effects outweigh (or at least should) the "bonuses" and it shouldn't even be close

Semi autos account for over 50% of guns sold annually at the moment. Ppl don’t want that bolt action or pump action. So no, not a ridiculous statement by any means. Also, Walmart is the #1 forearm seller In the states. Shouldn’t be surprising they stock semi autos there.

“Rampant murders” by criminals who shoot other criminals with “illegal” guns. That will still be there no matter what law anyone tries to put into place. That argument you have there is poor at best.

Target practice, gun collection and hunting are legit reasons to acquire firearms. And ammunition. As per the law of both countries.
Except in the states you can buy for “self defence” which if you tried saying that’s the reason you’d want one here in Canada you’d never be able to get your pal.

Not true at all. In Canada there are a million restrictions on various types of guns and attachments. Theres a minimum barrel length for all rifles shot guns and any hand guns, aswell the hand gun must be barrelled past the end of the main portion of the gun (plus theres a min length on hand guns). There's restrictions on magazine and clip sizes. Restrictions on sights. Restrictions on fire rate. I think you get my point here, so your bolded statement above is flat out wrong.

In order to obtain a hand gun in Canada you need to take not one but two different licensing tests. That's something that is completely different from the US. Ontop of that the weapons need to be registered (which I will concede is a waste of money and time to bother because only law abiding owners will register for the most part)

Gun control allows police to seize illegal fire arms if they see them. That's the difference and why (IMO) the US needs to introduce some minor gun control laws. Right now in the US I could be driving around with a M4 Carbine full auto extended mag with a laser assist and if a cop saw me driving with it they couldnt take it legally (obviously depends on state but lets talk in generalizations here). In Canada the police would be able to seize the weapon, charge me with weapon related offenses (preventing me from legally purchasing a gun) and put me in jail for a period of time. Allowing police the power to seize weapons is what curbs gun violence and removes these "illegal" guns from Canada. Whether you want to believe it or not, it does prevent violent people from obtaining guns.

The way it stands in the US currently, powerful weapons are far too easy to obtain and require very little in terms of government checks. There's not even a safety orientation on safe gun use, but you can go buy some of the best killingweapons out there with a simple background check.

You literally are just explaining restricted. Non restricted. And prohibited weapons.
The ar-15 that was used in the san bernadano shootings is hanging in my friends basement.
Any muzzle shorter than (I forget length) is considered restricted. Which if you take your rpal, that I have. You can go and buy them with no problems. Just have to notify your local PD.
You are arguing semantics. Everyone should know we clip our magz to no more than 5 rounds. This is basic knowledge in the Canadian gun owner circle. Does not change the fact you can go purchase anything from your local cabalas. Fully auto is essentially a no go in Canada. Except I think for a few grandfatherd rules and exceptions.

Don’t get me wrong. I agree there should be minor tweaks to their laws which can bring them up to “reality” sorta speak. But I just cringe when I see ppl that seem to think they need an overhaul and or to remove all guns currently present. That is totally unfeasible and unrealistic.

No I'm not. I'm describing PROHIBITED weapons, weapons that cannot be legally owned or purchased in Canada. I'm arguing "semantics" after you boldy (and incorrectly) claimed that any weapon from the US can be purchased in Canada. Maybe dont make over-encompassing statements that you cant back up.

Definition of a prohibited firearm
According to the Criminal Code, a prohibited firearm is:

a handgun that has a barrel equal to or less than 105 mm in length, or
is designed or adapted to discharge a 25 or 32 calibre cartridge, but does not include any such handgun that is prescribed, where the handgun is for use in international sporting competitions governed by the rules of the International Shooting Union,
a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,
is less than 660 mm in length, or
is 660 mm or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm in length,
an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger, or
any firearm that is prescribed to be a prohibited firearm'

The problem with the US is any gun control people view as a slippery slope that eventually leads to the government taking all their weapons. I dont know what the solution is but continually having mass shootings and then continually saying that guns arent the issue is ridiculous.

Not sure how gun laws work but extensive firearms training should be mandatory before being allowed to own a firearm. You cannot drive a car without passing a skills test , the same should be done with firearms. Even then I already think people do not go through enough driving training to acquire a drivers license, firearms training should be extensive and somehow show the trainee what it feels like to take a life, not sure how that would be done though.
