What I'm saying is the laws are ridiculously lenient and unnecessarily give access to guns to almost anybody ffs. Both the guns and the gun owners are problematic honestly, who says it can only be one or the other

You have to pass a background check in the states. And they don’t sell guns to “anyone”. There are 10 types of people who would be rejected by a background check: felons, fugitives, drug addicts, the mentally ill, illegal immigrants, some legal immigrants, people who have renounced U.S. citizenship, people under restraining orders, people convicted of domestic violence and anyone charged with a crime that could bring more than a year in prison are ineligible.

In Canada, to be able to buy and own guns (non restricted) all you have to do is sit in an 8 hour gun course (PAL) and submit scores to the rcmp which then do their own background check.

And what exactly is so different ?

Who said it was? Guns are a right to protect us from the government. Sports shooting, hunting, home/personal protection are bonuses, not the point.

Because Americans need hand guns and semi automatic rifles for hunting  and home protection lol.... the rest of the world doesn't use guns for this purpose and does just fine... nice "bonuses" you got there, surely it outweighs the insane amounts of gun violence in your country

The 2nd amendment was from a time when such firepower didn't exist,

I'm more concerned with all of the weapons seeping into Canada, all the garbage makes its way up here. We need to build a wall

Problem is there's too many guns already so easy for criminals to get and the risk of mentally unstable people using their gun to kill someone is higher
Hard to do anything about it now and if something is done it will take ages for things to get better

Yeah the country is so littered with firearms it would be nearly impossible get rid of them now. Australia managed, but they didn't have anything close to America's amount of guns or population

I just don’t get this logic? iirc you said you have your pal and are a gun owner. But you make ridiculous comments like this that make it sound as if you’ve never even held a firearm.
A good buddy of mine has 5 handguns. Completely legally owned. HERE IN CANADA. And most guns are semi auto. Lol.
Anyfirearm you can purchase in the states you can get in Canada. DO YOO REALIZE THIS?
You are worried about guns seeping into Canada? So you’re worried about the illegal gun running which would happen regardless what laws you put into place? How ridiculous.

Ya. That’s all you have to retort with when confronted with facts?
