It is broke. Halak is posting mediocre numbers behind one of the best defensive teams in the NHL. Frankly it might help his career too. As has been said before, he is injury prone and inconsistent, not the guy you want on a team that is pushing for playoffs this year.

If I'm not mistaken, the blues are first in the league for goals against. I wouldn't be worried about goaltending if I were them.

It's not about Halak's numbers or play really. It's more about reliability, he's injury-prone. The Blues aren't fully comfortable going into the playoffs with him, and Elliot isn't someone who can pick up the ball and carry them if Halak does go down.

Get Miller signed and trade Allen away to make up the assets you lost getting Miller.

The blues only have 1.5M cap space , wouldnt they need to add another player on top of a goalie?

Elliott's numbers are nearly identical to Halak's. Not really a big drop off. And if they were to trade Allen away, then what? You got three goalies who all want to be starters. With how little interest there is for goalies out there right now, it's not as if they have deals lined up

Halak would be traded away if they acquired Miller.

Please don't tell me you think Elliot is a Stanley Cup goalie, even behind a defensive team like the Blues.

No different from Niemi or Crawford. And I would rather Halak in nets for the playoffs over Elliott.

All I'm saying is that as of right now they're third in the west, while second in the league (thanks to tonight) in goals against and doing just find in scoring as well. Doing something as drastic as changing your starting goaltender around the trade deadline is not a smart move. Add your depth, and try to get somebody like Callahan who you know will perform and see what happens. If they falter in the playoffs, go from there.

Who is no different from Niemi or Crawford?

Of course one would rather have Halak over Elliot, I never said otherwise.

Well right now they believe that goaltending will be their downfall in the playoffs, can't blame them for wanting to improve. Plus, if they wait til the off-season and their goalies fail them, it may be too late to acquire Miller (re-signs with the team he gets traded to) and Allen still probably won't be ready to lead them to the cup.

Vanek turned down a "substantial offer" from the isles. Believed they may try to move him by the deadline.
