Custance's source (an NHL goalie coach) has heard that the Canucks have offered Markstrom a 7 year deal.

Lolwut

Then why is Benning not using Demko as a trade chip?

[Faber] OEL trade is still progressing tonight. AZ wants Höglander, Podkolzin or Demko but may have to settle for Lind as the prospect because Hog/Pod/Demko are no-go’s for Canucks. Names like Virtanen and Sutter have been floated in trade too.

“It’s believed that the basic parameters of a possible deal are essentially set. It will include a draft pick of some magnitude, an inefficient contract from Vancouver’s bottom-six and a prospect. It’s the identity of the prospect that remains a point of contention between both sides”
Drance and daliwal

Sounds like it's happening if they're still trying to make it work before the deadline. I like how Benning isnt giving in and giving up top 3 prospects. I hope he sticks to it. Losing Lind would suck, as I thought he would make an awesome bottom 6/3rd line player.

To be fair this is some random dude off a Canucks fan site so don't know how credible.

If the best prospect we give up is Lind it'll be a steal, assuming we don't give up a boatload of picks as well.

Bottom part is from drance and Dhaliwal,
Assuming Ariz wanted like ror trade, maybe it's 2nd and 3rd Rd picks since Benning doesn't wanna give up a 1st.

Picks + sutter/eriksson/capdump + prospect (Lind?)

It would suck to give up picks again, but you can't ever find a dman like oel through fa, and normally they would cost a lot more to pry them away. Such a weird year, like pangelo is available only cuz the gm is being a dick and not showing him the contract so he can read it over and sign.

I wouldnt mind if Benning gave 1st and 2nd if it means we dump 1 shitty contract and give up Lind tier prospect. Surprised its not juolevi or Rathbone,i hope it's Lind.

The risk is ifCanucks lose some, if not all key players like markstrom, tanev, stecher toffoli. Then even with much better defense with oel, the team will regress and give up higher picks. If Benning can still retain some of them back and become better, then whatever. I don't really have faith in Benning draft anymore with brackett gone, I hope I'm wrong. the strongest prospects always came from bracketts scouting area like NCAA. The Canucks spent most of their picks in the CHL and the best result is virtanen, mccaan, and juolevi.... Not that promising. Minny hit it out of the park with their draft this year, too early to tell ofc but it's as optimistic as the past 2 drafts the Canucks had initially.

I think deadline is 9am by tmr before fa starts.

Such an interesting trade.

It's hard to gauge OEL's value given his contract, his recent sort-of decline and Arizona's desire to move his contract.

Then you also have to factor in the negative value of the cap dump we'd be giving back.

On one hand, it seems like the Canucks are in the power position here because it's a public breakup for them and it's not like we NEED him with Hughes and Edler on the left side.

On the other hand, he's a good player that can bounce back and be great and it'd suck to lose him when we could get him on the cheap.

2nd and 3rd round picks aren't a concern when you're trading an OEL type player. But if Demko is going the other way, it'll be interesting to see how much cap we can dump off as well.

Apparently Stastny back to WPG is already a done deal (picks involved) and could be announced Friday.

No secret Vegas is trying to shed cap.

Still surprised nobody has taken on Fleury's 2 x 3.5M for free.

It's a 3 way trade for Fleury, no team wants to help pay 3.5m for only a 2nd pick

I heard this but it doesn't make sense to me... why doesn't the team eating the 3.5M just take Fleury too and use him (along with the 2nd)?

I don't see why a 3rd team needs to be involved.
