I'd rather be a shitty team and lose than have your GM lie to you telling you we're an elite team while we're continually losing.

I'm gonna have to make a red/bold/sticky thread explaining why the Blues need/want Miller.

Been having this discussion in multiple threads for the last month -_-

What would you rather have as your tandem, Halak + Elliot with Allen in the wings or Miller + Elliot with Allen in the wings? The main thing I see standing in the way of the trade is the fact that Halak will be Miller's age and nowhere near his talent by the time the sabres rebuild takes hold. And his trade value is good enough to get a first from a team that needs him.

Blues have plenty of prospects to give for miller.

Just 'cause he's reporting it doesn't mean it's 100% true. I would just be surprised if management feels this way because they've been overvaluing our team and trying to win for 3 years now.

I think they should go after Miller, too. Lots of people keep saying they shouldn't because Halak + Elliot tandem is good enough, but that's not the case.

I was disagreeing with Cratic and Chojo, if it wasn't clear :P

I think it isn't the case this year, frankly. Halak is better than he has been. But when you're thinking in the now and he's struggling, it makes sense to get someone who is hot.

Halak has been fine, and if they trade him away for Miller as a rental, that's a lot to give up for a hot goalie. And knowing how up and down + injury prone Elliott has been the last few years, that's quite a risk too. If they plan on signing Miller long term, that's pretty much throwing away all three goalies they got right now. Miller will want a deal to take him to retirement. Allen would be a good backup for a couple years, then what? They'll have to get rid of him because of an ageing Miller. Then once he retires they'll have no one ready.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it

It is broke. Halak is posting mediocre numbers behind one of the best defensive teams in the NHL. Frankly it might help his career too. As has been said before, he is injury prone and inconsistent, not the guy you want on a team that is pushing for playoffs this year.
