Pierre LeBrun] Hearing that the Maple Leafs have genuine interest in pending UFA winger Wayne Simmonds at the right price. They have him listed as a target once free agency opens Friday. Again, would need to be a reasonable contract for it to work. But Leafs have sincere interest there.

Just got off the phone with Russian ambassador Aleksandr Darchiev, he's really hoping Ottawa drafts Askarov. He said Putin will visit Ottawa, and attend his first Sens game. In Russia the TASS news agency has him going to Ottawa at 5, and say he's the next Tretiak.

If were honest here askarov is a pretty good pick for the sens at 5 and they could even trade down 1-3 spots to gain more assets and still get him
