"I’m just not sure McDavid’s lack of dominance can be waved away. This is an era in which hockey players are increasingly evaluated at five-on-five, allowing for the fact that special teams time can skew points for and against dramatically. And at even strength, McDavid has 85 points this season, more than 20 points ahead of Kopitar, who is in second place with 64 even-strength points. McDavid is also first in even-strength goals at 35, four more than Vegas’ William Karlsson and five more than Kucherov and Ovechkin." (Stinson, 1)

The case for mcdavid. He’s too dominant. Even on a bad team

In no way is Malkin a finalist when his team has 3 guys in the top 10 of scoring

so a team that has good players would automatically disqualify all those players from being contenders for the Hart. :bonk:

in any case, Hall is for sure a contender, but its not a sure thing... there are easily merits for Mac, Hall, Kopitar and even McDavid.

My own personal opinion is no one should ever be able to win MVP on a team that doesn't make the playoffs in any sport. That is why there are awards for finishing first in scoring etc.

My personal top 3 for MVP would be Kopitar, Hall, and Kucherov. Giroux and Malkin would be a close 4th and 5th, but unfortunately for them they have a lot of players around them that IMO hurts their chances.

Brandon Pirri is the obvious choice for MVP, 2PPG unbeatable
