For the record I don't think McDavid is the Lord and savior of the Oilers now what I do think is this is the sort of boost this team needs to be motivated each game for the entire game. I laugh at everyone who says Edmonton ruins careers lol I just sit back patiently because I understand the game. Next year is the start of a dynasty. Whether or not the dynasty rises quickly to the top or sputters out very quickly will be seen but I have a confidence I haven't had in this team in 10 years

yea man this is basically the best opportunity that has ever been given to the oilers in the "new era" game.

What they do with the opportunity we will have to wait and see.
McDavid has also not played a single NHL game yet. But lets call a spade a spade- hes the best potential player since any of us joined JSP.

Get a goalie.
Get a defensean.
Make the goal the playoffs NEXT YEAR.

Im excited to see what the oilers can do.
I dont think McDavid could have been put in a better spot roster wise offensively speaking (of course excluding teams like LA and other low % lottery teams).

good luck fellas. Glad you have something to be excited about.

There's no excuse for the oilers not already being relevent. Their ineptitude in acquiring decent goaltending and defense over the last 5 years is mind boggling.

Mcdavid doesn't play defence or goalie so if they don't put in work shoring up the back end I don't see them making the playoffs even with mc David

There's no excuse for it but that isn't a knock against hall/nuge/yak, so I wouldn't necessarily agree with saying oilers have "ruined their careers." They've all developed into great, undisputed scoring line players, even Yakupov who took some time but has come into his game this year.

To say McDavid won't become an amazing NHL player in edmonton is just ridiculous. You can say he's handicapped to achieve a cup but he's gonna be as good there as just about anywhere else.

I agree 100%

I'm just saying that I think unless they invest heavily into improving the D they're still going nowhere even with mcdavid

Defense wins championships but also get you into post season play. :p

Go to the crappiest team in the league that just happened to get the brightest new prospect in years, yea that could be pretty temping for a coach out to prove themselves further.
