Jeff
I glided my way through the practice game, trying to think of what to do with Summer afterwards. We can't really going bowling again, but I'm not sure what else there is to do.
"Hey pretty lady!" McBain yelled and I glanced over to see Summer walking down the steps to where Tanya was sitting with Parker.
"Ok, ok, I know you're all surprised Skinner has a girlfriend, I too thought he was gay," coach joked and everyone laughed as I glared at him, "so I'll be nice and make it next goal wins so you can all go meet her." He added with a smirk.
I couldn't hear her, but I could tell she was laughing at the attention that brought as she sat down beside Eric's wife.
I smiled at her before glancing back at the game in time for Eric to shoot the puck across the ice to me, smirking.
I knew what he was thinking, I could almost hear him, show off your skills, Biebs.
I started a drive down the left, hoping I could straight to Ward, but McBain being the dick his is obviously had other plans. He almost knocked me off the puck a little inside the blue line, so I had to dump and chase.
Tuomo got to the puck before Corvo could, and passed it along the boards to Eric. Pitkanen was on him, so he dumped it to the pads of Ward, who saw the rebound about 3 seconds after I did, but by then, it was already in the twine behind him. Thank you five hole!
"Summer!" Eric yelled at her and she glanced away from the net to him, "You have to come to every game from now on. Biebs steps up his game when you're around." I glared at Eric as he smiled back at me like he just did me a giant favor.
"Maybe he'd step it up a bit more if you wore a Carolina jersey." Ward asked, tossing me the puck. Why would I want this? I glanced over at him and he tilted his head over to Summer, smirking a bit.
"I'm like Johnny Cash, I only wear black jerseys, Ward."
"We have a black one, Suvi." Tuomo said, chuckling and she rolled her eyes.
"A Black and GOLD jersey! I'm a Pittsburgh girl, when there's red on our jerseys, we know it was good fight." She protested and I laughed.
"It's alright, Summer. You don't have to wear a jersey." I said shaking my head and she smiled at me as everyone else walked off to the dressing room.
"Thank you, Jeff." She said and I smiled back, leaning against the open gate door and tossing the puck up to her.
"What's this for?" she asked, tossing it from one hand to the other before looking back at me.
"Scored it for you." I said smiling and she smirked back at me.
"Wow, Jeff Skinner scored a goal in a team practice for me. What an honour." She teased and I shook my head.
"Ouch, no love."
"Nope!" she said, popping the P and I chuckled.
"You're not nice, Summer." I said and she gasped.
"Take it back!" she said pouting and I chucked, leaning forward to kiss her but she leaned back.
"Take it back, Skinner." She said, smirking and I shook my head.
"But it's true."
"I know it, you know it, doesn't mean you can't take it back." She said and I laughed.
"Fine, you're very nice, Summer." I said and she smiled widely.
"I know I am!" she said before turning and walking over to the stairs.
"Where are you going?" I asked, surprised, I thought we had plans before tonight's game.
"To wait by my truck, if you're not there in 10 minutes, I'm leaving." She said with a smirk before running up the stairs. I closed the door to the ice and took off my helmet, pushing the hair that was sticking to my forehead away and sighing to myself. She's something else.
"Hey Wonder Boy!" she called, turning around at the top of the stairs. I turned back and looked up at her, waiting for her to go on.
"Nice goal." She said, throwing the puck back down to me, a smirk pulling at the corner of her lips.
She ran off before I could say anything. I shook my head, tossing the puck in the air and catching it, noticing the glimmer of sliver on it. I turned it over and noticed she'd written something on it.
If you score me a real goal tonight, I might reconsider how I look in red.
I smiled widely and shook my head. Like I said, Summer Ruutu is something else.
