[Jason Gregor] "I'm hearing, if he goes to market, the Red Wings are looking to make a big pitch for Markstrom. I wonder if they give Markstrom his ask of $6m how it would impact others after Lehner signed for $5m in Vegas."
lehner didnt sign yet? lol
They would have to pay Markstrom a far higher salary and term than the competition.
Detroit is far away from being competitive. If he signs there he would be sacrificing his remaining prime years to prop up a weak team.
Don't think he would be interested unless an extra two years and 1+ million more per year are added.

best example is montreal with carey price and vancouver with demko/marky
we saw what a well rested goaltender can do and a good 2nd goalie that can play 25-35 games wont overtax your #1 Goalie
if marky leave to fa i wonder who will be in as the 2nd, dipietro?
We have career journeyman Louis Domingue as the backup in that case.
He does not instill much confidence.... Surely not the kind of goalie who can play 20-30 games reliably.
Demko still needs another year or two of development to be a clear cut number one imo. The tools and mental mindset are there but he still needs to ease into a starting role vs being thrown in.
Dipietro is certainly not NHL ready. Not sure what his ceiling is. He may not turn out to be an NHL goalie but it is too early to tell.
