These playoffs have shown just how important that is.

Colorado, arguably the western favorite was knocked out largely due to goaltending injuries and a lack of having anybody in their organization being able to fill in that position.

Dallas on the flipside is in the SCF despite Bishop being injured and struggling because Khudobin came in as a backup who happened to catch fire at the right time.

With a condensed schedule I think it will be even more attractive for teams to pursue closer to a 1A 1B tandem in net vs putting all your stock in one guy while having no confidence in the backup.

best example is montreal with carey price and vancouver with demko/marky
we saw what a well rested goaltender can do and a good 2nd goalie that can play 25-35 games wont overtax your #1 Goalie

if marky leave to fa i wonder who will be in as the 2nd, dipietro?

Dipietro isn't ready, I honestly don't think Demko is ready for a full season either. If Marky leaves, the Canucks are screwed, and probably have to find another vet goalie from fa to play with demko. If Marky is going, I think Benning should try to make a trade with cbj for korpisalo. His stats are very similar to markstrom's and he is Ian Clark's goalie.

imo the Flyers should still go out and snag one of these 2-3 year deals even if it means spending some.
You have Hart on a rookie deal so you have some time before you need to really pay him.

It would be injury or cold streak insurance imo.

I wonder if MTL is thinking along these lines. That is, the goal now is simply GET IN the playoffs. So if that means you need to buy a couple extra wins with a good backup goalie, you do it.
The thought process being that would be the difference between you missing the playoffs by two points or sneaking in.

I think it's a decent strategy if that's what they're doing.

tbh im perfectly fine keeping elliot if we do
he played good hockey for us and apparently him and hart get along really good

the best 1-2 punch flyers have had in like ever since ive been a fan lol

plus i dont think they want anything too long term for the backup we got some pretty decent prospects that in 2-3 seasons might be nhl ready

[Jason Gregor] "I'm hearing, if he goes to market, the Red Wings are looking to make a big pitch for Markstrom. I wonder if they give Markstrom his ask of $6m how it would impact others after Lehner signed for $5m in Vegas."

lehner didnt sign yet? lol

I think most teams with money can't afford him, teams without money might be able to offer around 8m but is he willing to relocate himself? I think he will ask Doug to just fucking show him the contract, instead of being a dumbass expecting him to sign a 7yr contract without the deets

Sakic just needs to make some magic work. I'd gladly replace johnson + cole and/or zadorov for Pietroangelo 7 years

@GackleRSo “basically, the allegation here is that two #SJSharks players paid political bribes to SCC Sheriff Laurie Smith in exchange for concealed weapons permits that are nearly impossible to get outside of law enforcement.”

I guess the only shot the sharks were ready for this season was off ice.
