I think most teams with money can't afford him, teams without money might be able to offer around 8m but is he willing to relocate himself? I think he will ask Doug to just fucking show him the contract, instead of being a dumbass expecting him to sign a 7yr contract without the deets

Robin Lehner, Jacob Markstrom, Anton Khudobin, Cam Talbot, Corey Crawford, Thomas Greiss, and Holtby are all expected to be available.

Blues are just pretending they made an effort to re-sign him. The contract is probably backloaded which is an insult to a player of Pietrangelo's caliber given the AAV offered is already low.

That's how splurging in July 1st can fuck you over good.

[Lebrun] JP Barry given permission to find Loui a new team.

Yeah... that's what was holding them back from trading him

watch loui score 30g np with his new team

I guess this means that they can technically both decide to terminate the contract, like Loui is owed 5m with 2 years remaining.
So if there's a team that decides to sign him for 2.5x2 or something, it's NP.

"Jimmy Howard is leaning toward leaving the only NHL franchise he's ever played for.

The Detroit Red Wings goaltender will "probably not" play for the club next season, he told Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on Sunday.

Howard, who's a pending unrestricted free agent, added that he's not planning to retire.

"Someone is going to have to tell me I can't play anymore," he said, adding that 2019-20 isn't the way he wants to end his career.

The 36-year-old also said he's been training for the last two months and that he talked to his family about relocating for a year if he can't play for a team close to home.

Howard struggled mightily this past season, posting a save percentage of .882 (the worst mark in the league among goalies who played at least 27 contests) and minus-22.12 goals saved above average to go with his 2-23-2 record.

He's spent his entire 14-year NHL tenure with the Red Wings, who drafted him 64th overall in 2003.

If Howard elects to hit the market, he'll join a crop of free-agent goaltenders that could include Anton Khudobin, Robin Lehner, Jacob Markstrom, Thomas Greiss, Corey Crawford, and Braden Holtby."

I think he may have a hard time signing with another team after this years performance. he could really help the Sharks.

gotta say with how crazy the goalie market is going to be this year ...WHERE WAS THIS WHEN FLYERS NEEDED A GOALIE
we finally dont got shit ass goalie situation and then there is like a bazillion goalies available and likely hitting FA ...wtf

imo the Flyers should still go out and snag one of these 2-3 year deals even if it means spending some.
You have Hart on a rookie deal so you have some time before you need to really pay him.

It would be injury or cold streak insurance imo.

I wonder if MTL is thinking along these lines. That is, the goal now is simply GET IN the playoffs. So if that means you need to buy a couple extra wins with a good backup goalie, you do it.
The thought process being that would be the difference between you missing the playoffs by two points or sneaking in.

I think it's a decent strategy if that's what they're doing.

These playoffs have shown just how important that is.

Colorado, arguably the western favorite was knocked out largely due to goaltending injuries and a lack of having anybody in their organization being able to fill in that position.

Dallas on the flipside is in the SCF despite Bishop being injured and struggling because Khudobin came in as a backup who happened to catch fire at the right time.

With a condensed schedule I think it will be even more attractive for teams to pursue closer to a 1A 1B tandem in net vs putting all your stock in one guy while having no confidence in the backup.
