Rumor has it that both the Flames and Canucks are interested in Tyson Barrie.

I don't see why the Canucks would be interested.... We don't need an offensive d-man. We need a physical, shut down d-man.

Stranger things have happened though. I just don't want them to go after another rental. After picking up Toffoli there is no chance we can sign anyone - we would be lucky if Toffoli stayed.

With Morgan Reilly out, why is there talk of Tyson Berry being traded out of Toronto? Toronto can't be selling, that doesn't make any sense. Unless if I'm missing something about this team

Neither Mike Green or Andreas Athanasiou are in the line-up for detroit tonight.
I can only assume that stevie has had some sort of talks regarding these guys otherwise they would most likely be playing tonight.
Guess we'll see what happens by tomorrow.

TSN and Sportsnet need something to talk about, their trade bait board has lost majority

The Leafs, as a team, and Barrie himself for that matter, have underachieved all year. Barely holding onto a playoff spot, with the season winding down, when they should be playing their hearts out to make it, they have displayed pathetic team efforts in 3 of the last 4 games.

Seeing as how the team doesn't appear to be a contender, and how they've traded several picks away recently, why not flip Barrie for assets when there's no way they can resign him

While this makes a ton of logical sense, I feel like any GM who is in a playoff spot on trade deadline day, and sells, is asking to lose their job.

Yeah, that's the thing. It is essentially an emission of defeat. You couldn't sell it to the fan base.

But watching all the no-shows this season leads any pragmatist to conclude this isn't the Leafs year

It looks like one of the Metro teams might miss the playoffs despite having more points than the 3rd place team in the Atlantic lol

Sucks. Considering most people haven't liked the new format anyway, this could be what makes the NHL revisit the structure.

With the stars that the team has, along with expectations, you can't show the fan base you're selling in any way shape or form. You just can't. He's not going anywhere
