Looks like Faulk to Ducks will happen if he gets an extension before trade

I don’t understand why Anaheim would want Faulk but I hope they acquire him, that’ll make getting scoring chances against the Ducks a lot easier.

Apparently Loleafs offered 11x7 to Marner but he wants shorter term (3 years), will be sort of like Werenski, where Marner could walk into FA after his contract is up and pull big money

Leafs offered him 7 or 8 yrs 11mil with 1 mil bonuses on top or some shit, but he still rejected it cuz he is making less than Matthews avv and with longer term. So he wants short term/bridge contract, so he can rake in more dough after

Like Matthews*, a deal in which the Leafs got bent over.

He got the term he wanted (walk into FA) and at more than fair AAV.

It makes no sense for Marner to take a lesser deal.

This. They set precedent with the other signings and now they want him to take less because they screwed themselves.

He would be a fool to budge an inch.

I'm trying to figure out how Marner is equal to Matthews?

If he steals the center job from Tavares he might be

- Generally Salaries go up each year. Others negotiated before him so if you want to give him similar value to Tavares/Matthews you should add in a bit to cover for inflation and the historical nature of rising salaries.

- It has been shown management has caved to the demands of the other players so his agent probably feels history will repeat itself.

- Point totals, value to the team, perceived durability, and perceived potential have all increased.

- Future conditions of the CBA, a possible lockout, and an assumed league revenue are driving players to desire UFA status even more now to lock up another big contract.

The main argument I have heard is he should not make as much as a center. Generally I would agree. However this is a special player imo. The center is usually the one who drives the play and sets up the offense. In Marners case I think he is doing all of that from the Wing, at least more than other wingers.

Based on all of that I feel he is due for the big payout.

Personally I think Marner is superior to Matthews.

I'm not an analytics fan, but even they say Tavares plays better without Marner than Marner plays without Tavares

He's a RW/LW that relies on a goal scorer, it should be the opposite
