Wow!
He has had a great year. Shot blocking with some good offense
Good for him

Both have had good years. Good for Neuvirth, caps more or less are committed to sticking with Holtby but neuvy deserves a shot at #1. Even if they're not doing well I think the isles are my favorite roster in the NHL.

caps needed to get rid of a goalie with holtby neuvirth and grunbaeur they had 3 goalies that might turn into a #1
there 3 goaleis that could also all bust

honestly tho i think caps fucked up neuvirth was prob the best of the 3 potential wise and look what happend with varly

What happened with Varlamov?

This is his first year that you could even consider him a true #1

he was arguably the caps best goalie
they traded him to the avs hes bin thier #! since and palyed better then any of the caps goalies they have had
now there trading neuvirth who prob has the most potential to get better and be a #1
there sticking with holtby and grubaur.... i dont like holtby at all i wouldnt feel safe with his as my #1 and grubaur or w/e has had 1 good season so far imean hes got 18 career gp and 16 this season....
just seems like they always make the wrong move when it comes to goaltending

He was not the caps best goalie. He and neuvirth were side by side and Holtby was coming up, so they traded him. Holtby has bailed the caps out so many times, last year he was the only reason they made the playoffs other than moving OV to right wing.
Varlamov wasn't very good until the colorado goalie coach was able to spend a lot of time with him this past summer.

varlamov was good the caps d made him look worse then he was
holtby has really high uips and really low downs im still not sold that he can consistently be a good #1 for a team
i just dont tihkn its a good idea to go all in on a guy like hotlby yet and rely on a rookie backup in grubaur ...come playoffs that can cost them hard
im a flyers fan i know what bad goaltending can do to a team the caps gotta stop givin up on guys so quick when they have them
also when they traded varly isnt that the year they had vokoun?

Varlamov had a few fatal flaws, like the fact that he hunched too low in butterfly and didn't raise his glove. Make a move, shoot glove high and it's in. Colorado's coach saw a lot of the flaws better than Washington's. Honestly, I really think Varly's success is mostly great chemistry with the goaltending coach.

so instead of tradinbg him they coulda actualy developed him and had a #1 goalie
i guess your right tho if they cant devlop goalies ship them out to teams that can
kinda like what philly did with bob that last season in philly seemed like he was getting worse instead of better

Holtby has been eh this year but so has the whole team outside of OV and Backstrom. He's performing much better under caps direction than varly ever did. It just ended up being a great trade, just fucking stupid that GMGM wasted Filip Forsberg for erat.

Varlamov was bound to have better years. Hooking up with the goalie brains in Colorado only helps.
Goalies dont normally break out until later in their twenties.
I'd say he was right on track to be better and you cant expect 40 win seasons at 22 or whatever he was.
Colorado is a good spot for him.
