im not sure what that means

boston and st louis made the cup finals because they dont pay players insane amounts

I was referencing the point about how Hayes isn’t a player that can help you win a cup. I agree he is overpaid but the salary aside if you look at the blues roster, especially a lot of their depth additions, they were players not looked at as necessarily players that could help get you a cup.

Point being a team can come together with the right additions etc. I wasn’t meaning that to be a knock on the blues.

With the deals these top 6 forwards are signing, you're gonna have to fill your bottom 6 and bottom 2 d pair with lots of ELC or league min deals.

I really feel for guys in the 28-31 age range looking for contracts, it's gonna be really hard to get paaaaid with teams paying their 22-24 year olds big money for their potential. GMs are no longer rewarding players for years of service and more for potential. I understand why they're doing it, but someones gonna have to take a pay cut and likely it'll be "past their prime" players who are still serviceable.

Treliving kinda does the opposite though. Grinds guys like Gaudreau for every penny, but hands out contracts to Brouwer and Neal. I think older vets will be just fine at the deadline, or on day one of UFA signings. Gms gotta pay somebody.

Heard Canucks want to move up in the draft, and are eyeing Detroit's 6th overall pick. Per JD Burke of Elite Prospects

On top of all of the Alex Edler contract talk, the #Canucks GM Jim Benning mentions that he has yet to make contact with Loui Eriksson after Loui's comments at the World Championships. JB has called Eriksson but has not received a call back from the player #NHL

i can actually see benning just trade him for lucic + poolparty or some shit
and take the loss in return for getting rid of a salty player

benning is a busy beast,
had to deal with edler, the draft, boeser, goldie/granny, all them trade calls etc.
i hope this doesnt affect his draft focus tho
