My fiancee doesn't want me to spend more than $500, having a deck put up for just over $4200 so we should limit spending this summer.

I'll probably just max out the RAM then buy a new graphics card.

ill buy it for you, dont worry

With 500$ you can get an unreal graphics card, considering you only need 60$ of RAM (for the love of god don't get more than 80$ of ram)

The guy said it would cost about $50 to max out the RAM but I don't beleive him about anything he says with regards to Graphics cards.

Yeah he's right about the RAM

It would be helpful to know how powerful your PSU is though, so that we don't fry it by getting you a nice video card

Can your current mobo even take DDR3?
If not there's no point in buying it unless you're changing over everything.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139075 - 8GB for 49.99 - Kingston
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220480 - 4GB for 34.99 - Patriot

I ended up getting 6GB because of some crazy deal. Ended up paying like 15 bucks for it on newegg. Was Corsair too so couldn't turn it down.

@Caedus - If you're building a new rig, you're going to have to take out the PSU anyways. Better to know sooner than later if you need to buy a new one.

I have no idea I won't be putting it in (I'll just wreck it so I'll be getting the store to do it)

I'll just talk to the guy there about it.

I'm not making a new one, I'm just upgrading mine.

No. You're really making a new one if you're replacing your motherboard, processor, ram, and video card.

You have to gut it and then put it all back together..

I'm probably not replacing either the motherboard or processor, my fiancee told me not to spend more than $500
