Yeah, I was quite surprised the gm didn't do much to address goaltending when there were ton of options available more than ever. I mean i know he tried, but after failing for markstrom he could've still tried for a better back up tender than Smith? I guess he has full faith in his duo or something.

No cap space. Like absolutely 0. Hollands hands were tied. We have 25mill or so to play with this off season. Just have to resign nuge.

Well yeah, cuz after he lost out on markstrom, and he decided to just keep the duo and sign barrie to 3.75m. He had a lot more cap to work with than lolcanucks tbh. Especially when klefbom was known to go ltir with an injury. That kahun signing was bomb, Barrie was a steal for sure but I don't think it was as crucial to the team needing someone better than Smith imo. I think Holland knew that as he went for Marky. I guess he just chose to double down on mcdavid and drais to outscore their opponents with barrie, since the other goalie can't play at the same time.

Well at least with 25m and after resigning rnh and Yamamoto, I hope he spends the rest on beefing up the back end?

Benning had to make several hard choices, with his hands being tied as well. He still somehow ended up with schmidt for a 3rd,let go of toffoli, stecher, tanev, markstrom etc. Signed virt/motte etc. He also didn't know if Ferland would be on ltir, til pretty much last minute and once confirmed added Hamonic.

Interesting to see this thread age.

Toronto is putting up a ton of goals, maybe I will be proven wrong and this will be the year they finally break through in the playoffs.

In my pool I took Matthews and Marner with my first two picks.

Needless to say that pool is going quite swell lol.

It's literally their best chance to finally go past round one after multiple failures. They'll be facing the weakest Canadian team instead of weakest eastern conference team they always lost to.

I just saw thescore article for Norris less than 10 games into the season, and they don't even mention Quinn Hughes despite leading the NHL dmen in points in one of the worst teams that have been struggling. Ofc they have makar at top, when the stacked ass team is under achieving as fuck lmao Their reasoning is using analytics instead of focusing on points, when they've always been doing that. Shows how impressive Hughes is, doesnt matter if Petey, lotto line or the team struggles, kid still produces np.
Honourable mention has players like nurse haha

Ya read another article stating nurse is the stud we've been waiting on.

"As for defensemen, Darnell Nurse is starting to look like the stud the Edmonton Oilers were hoping to see for the past few years. The blue-liner racked up five assists in four games, all while averaging a hefty 24:40 of ice time. Nurse also managed a Corsi For of 59.12% at even strength alongside a solid 63.68 xGF%."

Almost puked reading that bs
