I like how you guys think that getting a highedr ranked player means he's a better prospect. If it was that easy every team would just follow the consensus ranking. There's a reason these guys are/were available where you guys drafted.

There's also drafting by needs instead of ranking as well.

If #4 ranked was a defender, and the team up at number 4 walked up with a loaded pool of defenders, they would fill the gap that's needed.

Not to mention interviews with teams at the combine, teams get a decent idea of whether or not they want the character in their team

Drafting for needs is not a good idea in hockey. This isn't the NFL.

Players are for the most part a few years away from being ready and the needs are your team can change quickly.
