Dekeyser and Lashoff were both saving graces. Xavier Ouellet was a huge draft pick I think last year or the year before, can't remember. I think this year was a big deal because all the injuries brought guys into the nhl who wouldn't have been there otherwise. Andersson was supposed to be literally 1 game, and he was so good he's been in the lineup ever since.

is there that big of a lack of young PMD:s in the league?

PMDs = playmaking defensemen? I'm not familiar with the acronym. I think wings have historically taken defensemen in lower rounds hoping they'll find a diamond in the rough.
