Not sure if already discussed but rumors are circulating that Jesse Puljujarvi may be added along with Milan Lucic for Loui Eriksson.

Lucic can not be bought out, will have to protected in the expansion draft and has an extra year on his contract.

I am not sure if it is even possible for this deal to happen. Both players have a NTC.

I can see Eriksson in particular being stubborn. He has an established family life in Vancouver and I doubt he has interest to move to Edmonton.

Lucic is a local but we can not forget how badly he was treated by some moronic locals. His parents church was vandalized and drunks tried to pick a fight with him downtown. He might not be able to overlook that.

Personally this is a deal I would take if it were possible. A 21 year old former #4 pick with a big frame and all kinds of upside. I think he was thrown under the bus from the start and his talent was managed so poorly it was likely he would fail.

I think career would stand a better chance at taking off if he were to leave Edmonton. Personally I would be thrilled if we got him. I still think he has the ability to be am impactful top 6 forward who can get you 25 goals. Also he brings much needed size.

If you can mold him into an effective TWF you end up with a very good acquisition.

That being said I am still thinking the Canucks would have to throw in more to make this deal work, despite the terrible contract Lucic has. I like the idea of buying a player when his value is low. There is not much to lose and lots to gain.

This was pretty dead from all Edmonton sources last week, pretty sure the idea off any addition to lucic on Edmonton’s side killed it. Lucic has extra year but is effective bottom 6 roster spot, Eriksson is a dead roster spot.

Why do you think the Canucks need to add when they're trading for a worse contract, and pool party desperately wanting out of edm?

I don’t think anyone needs to add, 1 for 1, they are equally bad contracts. I also would rather have Lucic than Eriksson personally. I don’t think there is an out for Edmonton with lucic.
I also don’t believe we need to do anything with JP, trading him for nothing does nothing for us.

The fact the person taking on lucic loses a protection spot vs Seattle is the big difference that doesn’t make this 1 for 1. Along with the extra year. Eriksson is still somewhat effective as a pker

Lucic could wave his nmc for the draft , Seattle would probably be appealing to him. Alternatively if he’s committed to Edmonton he could waive knowing there is no chance Seattle takes him. Also have you seen our roster we only need to protect 3 forwards.

He got thrown in a shit storm here in Edmonton and he made some coaching decisions favouring the short term pressure to win over the long term plan. He’s probably learned a lot and is actually ready to run a team with limited expectations. He’ll do fine I predict.

No need to protect yamamoto? Curious about bear on defence is he worth protecting?
