unless they were to build crazy depth in the next couple of season before expansion draft they probably wont have an issue with lucic
and hes got what 2 seasons in the expansion draft year? what if they just bought him out 2 years 3.5m salary left in those 2 years that probably be fairly reasonable buyout
and then they dont have to protect him
actually looking at his buyout now its would be 625,000@8 years
so imagine knocking off 1 year 3m salary that probably becomes like similar $$ for a lot less years
honestly if the oilers cant move him this year it would probably be smart for them to buy him out whats .6m towards the cap hit when u free up 6m
His buy out is not 625,000 over 8.
Its 3.6, 5.6, 4.1, 5.6 then .6 for the last 4 years
Buying out lucic saves us an average of ~1.25 a year for the first 4 years
