No doubt Yzerman wants Holland to remain with the Red Wings. He and Holland are very close. However, sources say Holland has been contacted by other teams, including Edmonton and Seattle.

Curious to see what, if any, the ripple effect is in TB. I believe TB AGM Pat Verbeek’s contract expires at end of this season and while Verbeek interviewed for GM job in EDM and wants to be a GM, he may be in a position to join Yzerman in DET. Just speculation, for now anyway.

Also, there may be others, such as TB chief amateur scout Al Murray, who may have contractual out clauses triggered by the organizational departure of Yzerman. Not saying there will be a flood of people leaving, just that some may have that option.

IIRC, when Julien BriseBois took over as GM from Yzerman in September, he didn’t hire a replacement for himself as AGM so there is likely to be some hiring to do in TB anyway.

I guess rumor is KH will be advisor to new GM Stevie Y

I feel like this Holland talk is just a smokescreen from the Oilers org so they can say "well we tried to hire someone more experienced, but I guess we'll have to stick with Keith Gretzky as he's the best available".

Just my feeling on it.

Holland would be sweet but.....Holland rode the coattails of fortuitous late round picks, once they’ve all retired & since landing in the eastern conference, no playoffs.

Where would Detroit have been without Lidstrom, Datsyuk & Zetterberg?

Likely where they are now.

Just pointing that out.



Also, I don’t put too much merit on it. We were allegedly going after McCrimmon pretty hard and he just signed on as LV GM soo.
