Game must be dead. They probably lose like 10 players to boredom everyday.

You know something is seriously wrong when one of the devs actually says the game is designed for you to get bored of it after a while and then pick it up again a few months later.

It's a shame because of the loyal following the franchise had, then d3 just tore down the whole thing...

Oh well Blizzard made a shit ton of money off the game and the real money auction house, good for them

Yeah I guess in the end it doesn't matter to them, they'll move onto different projects.

But they could have made D3 successful and made even more money, they were just stubborn with their approach.

Nah, it's what happens whenever small-company games get bought out by big corporations. Instead of the focus being on building a good product, they become focused on monetizing the product first. Exact same thing that happened with D3, they were more focused on different ways to extract money out of the game and it took them away from developing a story or creating a good game.

The game is an absolute fucking joke, even the story was absolutely pathetic and ridiculous. And for a story to be ridiculous in a FANTASY based game that really saying something.

I think in the end it's the lack of pvp, and balanced pvp that lead to it being so shitty.

That's what kept d2 going for all these years was it's item and pvp systems, they just had to copy it and profit

It blows my mind that they screwed it up so bad. Literally all they had to do was copy Diablo 2, create a new story and update the graphics. BOOM, you have a successful game. They didnt even HAVE to re-create the skill trees or create new classes. Sure, some minor tweaks or whatever, but they had the blueprint right in front of them and decided to go with something different. Just blows my mind. But whatever, I've pretty much started boycotting all Blizzard games now. There was a time when I solely played Blizzard games (WoW, D2, Starcraft), but the company is a shadow of it's former self and is more focused on profits than creating good games.

Yeah that's the thing. They didn't want the game to be D2 2.0, they wanted to create an entirely different game.

I guess if that's their vision and they wanna stick with it that's fair but I think the majority of fans just wanted a new/updated D2 because the formula just works too well.

I know I'd still be playing D2 if there were no hacks and the community was larger. Seems pointless when people have PVP hacks.

The PVP wasn't extravagant but it got the job done, people enjoyed it. Most D2 fans think it was a good end-game.

I have a sort of existential crisis looking back at D3. Today, looking back, it really wasn't that great a game. It has its fun parts, but a lot of it was boring, repetitive, grinding. You couldn't keep up at the beginning without throwing hundreds of $ at the auction house, which is what everyone at the top did. That's fucking stupid, so I didn't. But then how the hell did I put in over 850 hours into it in the first 3 years? If it wasn't a good game, why did I throw so much time and energy into it? Why did anyone? Doesn't add up.
