Sekera and Klefbom are going to be back now but to be honest, I dont see an easy way to fix this thing. The oilers are handcuffed. We have to move out salary, if they’re going to trade anyone by default it lands on Nuge. He’s the only one that has value that is tradable right now. They just have to get it right. Leon is going to have to suck it up and drive his own line and maybe that can happen with a capable winger or 2 instead of 3 natural centers.
Trading nug to open cap space is silly since you won’t find a ufa for 6 mil who does more than nug, same can be said in a straight trade for a player making 6mil.
We have to suck it up, wait out the Sekera/manning/spooner contracts and hope that our drafting in the past 2 years can provide some glue players. Other teams with less talent than 93/97/29 do more with the rest of their line-up so it’s possible.
Be competitive for the next 2/3 while not being impatient and trading/signing more 29 year old future boat anchors and start drafting players that actually end up on our roster.
