To people whining about Versteeg, we just won Back-to-Back in Boston and IN Buffalo, the fact we beat Buffalo is a miracle -- perhaps Versteeg was a cancer in the lockerroom? At the VERY LEAST he wasn't gelling / wanted out.
He's still a good player, don't get me wrong but Burke clearly got maximum value for him, and got him out if thats what he wanted.
Kaberle deal was good, its technically two first rounders and a potential second rounder, Kessel deal much? Sure its not the same value pick wise, but nobody expected it to turn out this way.
We can still in theory make the playoffs or keep their pick out of the Top 5, so who cares?
All in all Burkes done a fine job rebounding and collecting youth to build around, Kessel is fine now, he'll be fine long term too, he just needs some true first line talent to work with.
TL;DR Burkes doing his job fine.
For this thread: Colborne is a good prospect, he just had his last (?) growth spurt and is learning how to use his 6'5 frame to be physical while maintaining his playmaking capabilities. A potential Jumbo Joe.
Agree.
Burke needs to make up for the Kessel trade. Not saying Kessel sucks, but wasn't worth giving up a second overall pick (Tyler Seguin).
